Victory over Leukemia: A Benefit for the JMML Foundation - (Set time: 8:00 PM)
Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML) is a rare form of leukemia which affects young children, generally under the age of five. The overall survival rate is only about 60%, and the only curative treatment is a bone marrow transplant. The JMML Foundation exists to find a cure for JMML, and to improve the quality of life of JMML patients and families through research, education, advocacy, and charity. Our vision is to become, through our effective, efficient management of public funds, the primary enabler for the research necessary to cure JMML and the primary international support resource for families of JMML patients.
The Swimmers - (Set time: 11:00 PM)
One of Philly's craftiest pop bands, The Swimmers write infectious tunes and perform them live with energy, verve, and good looks! You will find yourself dancing around seemingly against your will. They recently celebrated the release of their second LP People Are Soft, which was released on Drexel's Mad Dragon Records.
Audible - (Set time: 10:00 PM)
Audible returns with an ethereal brand of pop music heard on the OC, NPR, and other reputable tastemaking media outlets. Mainstream exposure be damned, Audible the real deal, with songs and an all-star band of players whose music belongs in your head.
East Hundred - (Set time: 9:00 PM)
In January of 2009, after two years of touring, East Hundred released Passenger, their first full-length effort. The nine lushly produced tracks move through a haunting melodic landscape of loss, regret, and ultimately hope. If the young Philadelphia five-piece seems to wear its heart on its sleeve, it does so honestly. East Hundred began as a basement recording project in 2004 . After recording a few rough demos (which would later become the first EPs), the band sought to solidify its lineup and East Hundred soon evolved into a songwriting democracy. Nonstop performing honed the groups’ live act. WIth the release of Passenger, the cool reserve of their earlier work became something much more raw and immediate on Passenger, alternately sorrowful, angry, and sweet, at once accessible and dense.
