West Philadelphia Orchestra - (Set time: 11:45 PM)
West Philadelphia Orchestra
With a diverse line-up of professional Philadelphia musicians whose influences range from Sun Ra to
Bulgarian brass bands, West Philadelphia Orchestra is a unique live ensemble in today’s auto-tuned musical
world. They began playing Romanian ballads, Macedonian folk-dance songs, Bulgarian wedding music, and
Klezmer in late 2006, and have continued expanding their repertoire of Eastern European music. The band
also plays original compositions which blend other sounds, like jazz and classical, together with traditional
Balkan sounds. As much a community as a band, WPO’s performances are celebratory events. With blistering
beats and walls of brass, they inspire audiences to hold hands, dance, and slip the yoke of the homogenized
culture industry.

Swift Technique enters 2016 after completing their most successful
year to date. Most recently, the band has held several high profile
support slots, including sharing the stage with Karl Denson's Tiny
Universe, The Motet, Fishbone, The Main Squeeze, Sister Sparrow & The
Dirty Birds, JoJo Mayer, Big Sam's Funky Nation and Sophistafunk.
While completing tours through the Northeast, Southeast & Midwest
United States, the band also released two new singles, "Dress Shoes" &
"Jay's the Name" to critical acclaim. 2015 saw the debut of Swift
Technique's "Ultimate Funk Throwdown: Prince Vs. Morris Day", which
will continue to be performed on select dates throughout the country.
With a new EP release slated for Summer 2016, Swift Technique plans to
debut a large portion of new material on March 5th at Johnny Brenda's
in Philadelphia.

After forming in 2007, Swift Technique has relentlessly toured,
performed and recorded throughout the US. The extremely positive
chemistry shared by the band has always been translated in the live
setting. With the 2013 release of, “you boys be aight”, Swift
Technique established themselves as an up and coming force in the
recording industry. Although the group draws from many world
influences, their genre is uniquely Philadelphia.
