Norwegian Arms - (Set time: 11:15 PM)
Norwegian Arms
It all started with a Mandolin, a rubbermaid tub, and a batch of songs written while shuttered away during a year in a Siberia shared between two friends to birth what is now known as Norwegian Arms. With just these simple instruments, the group was able to give body and weight to their earnest, upbeat and thoughtful freak-folk. Things have changed since then, they've moved beyond the rubbermaid bin in favor of a floor tom (finding the latter more dynamic and less gimmicky) and added a wash of synthesizer, filling out their sound while maintaining their stripped down stage presence.

Although the two had been playing before mandolinist/vocalist Brendan Mulvihill was sent by the Fulbright program to Tomsk, Russia, it's easy to see that the defining moment in this young group's sound came after Mulvihill's return, when he, along with other member Eric Slick (of Dr. Dog) would rehearse in the windowless depths of the Ox, seeking to refine their minimalist sound.

People seem to find it difficult to classify the group, having said everything from 'freak folk' to 'mando punk'. But this isn't an attempt to make the music more digestible, for the group's songs are instantly memorable, well crafted, and melodically rich. These songs are deeply personal, and it shows. It's not hard to identify with the messages in their songs: a quest for self identity, adapting to new environments, questioning one's knowledge, and never being satisfied with what you know. It's Wanderlust and curiosity, distilled and neatly packaged into sonic bursts of intense energy. It's safe to say that Norwegian Arms suffers from a chronic case of the human condition.
Pattern is Movement - (Set time: 10:30 PM)
Pattern is Movement
Following their first three records, endless shows and tours, and the transition from five-to-four-to-three-to-two members, Pattern is Movement turned themselves inside out and made the record All Together. That is the record that compelled Stereogum to declare that "Pattern is Movement deserve your worship." And the notoriously cagy Pitchfork to write: "It takes special musicians to make a sound like this work, but three LPs into their career, Thiboldeaux and Ward seem to have it figured out, creating an accessible album that nonetheless sounds unlike anything any other band is doing."

After touring non-stop in support of All Together, and sharing the stage with amazing musicians, such as St. Vincent, Wye Oak, as well as literally sharing the stage with The Roots, they went back home and started working on their fifth record. Fast forward to 2012 and the record is complete and both Andrew and Chris have never been more excited about something they've made. They will be sharing this record with the world, sometime in 2013, on Hometapes.
Laser Background - (Set time: 9:45 PM)
Laser Background
Laser Background is the new psych pop project from Andy Molholt. Centering around how confusing & strange it feels to be a meandering, distracted youth caring about little more than dwelling deep in imagination & discovering ancient artifacts in the woods, Molholt filters contemporary situations through a lens of duality that co-exists between past & present. Childhood ultimately dictates how one perceives reality, & people try to ignore this fact all too often. Everything in life is cyclical...
Night Panther - (Set time: 9:00 PM)
Night Panther
Night Panther is a pop disco band founded by two best friends, Farzad Houshiarnejad and Mike Cammarata as an outlet for their youth. Fueled by sex, synths and Phil Collins, an 8 track lp soon followed.
