NOREMIXES Label Showcase feat. Starkey
NOREMIXES Label Showcase feat. Starkey

Philadelphiabased Starkey has left an indelibly classical mark on the world of bassheavy
music over the past 10 years. Notably one of the first producers to bring the sound of UK
grime to the United States, Starkey’s richly textured production style and refined music
engineering has earned him a global fanbase as a true innovator of sound. He is co-
owner of the Seclusiasis and Slit Jockey Record labels as well as the newly formed
NOREMIXES label, which showcases his passion for modern classical, ambient synth
and more experimental music styles. Starkey has released on Ninja Tune, Planet Mu,
Smog and Keysound amongst other labels.

Oh! Pears is a project from Corey Duncan that has taken many forms, including dozens of
musicians over the last couple years. Duncan started the project in Philadelphia, where
he lived until 2012, when he moved back to the town of his birth, Seattle. The project has
focused heavily on arrangements, especially string arrangements, and draws on a
kaleidoscope of influences from disparate musical worlds (Neutral Milk Hotel, Duke
Ellington, Broadcast, Chopin). Oh! Pears has toured Europe multiple times, and played
with bands like TV On The Radio, A Sunny Day In Glasgow, and Maps & Atlases.

Mikronesia is the moniker of composer and electronic musician Michael Reiley
McDermott. Through electroacoustic creations Mikronesia weaves sonic meditations as
recordings, installations, applications and scores for dance and film.

Classically trained composer Jeremy D. Beck and veteran electronic musician
William Fields creates rich emotional landscapes, combining choral harmonies,
warm ambience, freejazz rhythms, and gritty electronic processing. Everything they
do is improvised, created in response to the moment.

Philly's RVLVR (formerly Speaker for the Dead) is James Sauppe, a drummer/ pianist/
composer/laptop musician and music educator. James earned a BM in Music
Performance on the drum set in 2009 from The University of the Arts in Philly.
In 2014, he released music on Seclusiasis and New Low, including collabs with Dev79 and
Grammy- nominated artist, Ben O’Neill. Forthcoming in early 2015 are releases on Slit
Jockey Records and his Astral EP on Noremixes, Starkey’s brand new label
dedicated to the nondancefloor side of electronic music.

Winter Sleep is a project from electronic musician and classically trained composer
James Webster. Initially inspired by music from the mid90’s Sonic Team games, Winter
Sleep has evolved into an introspective examination of the passing of time in the twilight
of youth. The upcoming After The Dream album on NOREMIXES caps off the “Dreams”
trilogy, exploring the dread of reality and weight of responsibility that come when the
game has be played for too long.

Ghostinthehills is a classically trained composer whose music is equal parts sound,
silence, space and emotion. Although his sound is organized with computers, the depth,
intensity and expression in his works breathes in acoustic spaces.
