Work Drugs specialize in cocktails-compatible indie pop inspired by the soft rock era of artists like Christopher Cross and Donald Fagen, but with a lo-fi spark uniquely their own. Embracing the label “smooth-fi,” Work Drugs are purveyors of all things palatable to lovers of yacht rock, quiet storm r&b, and 80’s synth pop.

Winner of the Beijing Film Festival's coveted Crying Monkey Award and runner of recipients of the Nantucket Regatta’s Golden Seahorse Prize, Work Drugs have stayed humble and hungry throughout the past decade, touring with Two Door Cinema Club, Peter, Bjorn & John, and Kings of Convenience among many others and continuously recording and releasing studio efforts. There most recent album, Fantasy File, was released in Fall 2019 and has garnered comparisons to The Style Council, The Blue Nile, and Prefab Sprout.

Rock 'n' Roll is mystical. For instance, take Del Shannon’s “ Runaway” or Buddy Holly’s ’ “ That’ll Be the Day” .  These songs, though simple in nature are portals to other worlds, ridden with frequencies and cadences not known to this plain. If you try to sit down and write one, you may come close in aesthetic, but find it is impossible to recreate the doors to infinity. These songs are timeless. They wander the universe until the artist, much like a butterfly catcher, catches one and brings it forth. Only the greatest Butterfly catcher knows the rarities in breeds and how to be still enough to catch one. These dimension bending/portal opening butterflies are rarer than a big foot sighting or being abducted by an alien grey....or was it Allen Grey?  Anyway, I don't know if any of that butterfly studf is true or what it has to do with Stephen Lorek, but if he has learned a few things from his days touring with Phil Lesh and Friends and spear heading Philadelphia's rock band Shark Tape and Bojibian,  your in a for a good night of song.

Former front man and core songwriter of Philadelphia's Shark Tape and Bojibian is back in full form with music available on all major platforms.

Tyler Burkhart is a singer-songwriter living in Lancaster, PA. Tyler writes, records, and releases his music at home and continues to craft his sound, often wandering between indie rock, folk, lo-fi, and dream pop
