The Very Best - (Set time: 11:00 PM)
The Very Best
Born out of the love of hip hop’s ethos to consistently push the boundaries forward by extrapolating what was unique about the past and what is radically refreshing about the future, Radioclit’s Etienne Tron and Johan Karlberg have teamed up with Malawian songsmith Esau Mwamwaya to form The Very Best, an epic global partnership with the sole aim to re write western pop rules in a language which is not English. Esau who moved to London 7 years ago ran into Etienne in the second hand furniture store he ran in Hackney, located on the same road as their production studio. After regular chats about the state of global music the French/Swedish DJ/Production duo decided to invite Esau into the studio to lay down some betas, what was born out of fun and a mutual love of rhythm became something far grander.
Grandchildren - (Set time: 9:15 PM)
Since their first release, Everlasting (2010), Grandchildren have evolved from pioneers of Philadelphia’s burgeoning DIY scene into a musical powerhouse known for their unique cinematic blend of pop, folk and electronica. A product of a nomadic coming of age across three continents, frontman Aleks Martray settled in Philly to form a family of musicians that brought to life his eclectic sound - Roman Salcic (drums), John Vogel (synth), Russell Brodie (bass), and Adam Katz (guitar). Their following two records took them from the symphonic Golden Age (2013) to the pop-driven ZUNI (2015). After attaining road warrior status through several US tours, sharing the stage with such bands as Man Man, O’Death, and Thievery Corporation, the band went back into the studio to begin work on their fourth album. Their newest single OK I’m Waiting, a psych-folk ode to seizing the moment, offers a glimpse into their forthcoming self-titled album Grandchildren, slated for a May 2018 release. The track features the soulful harmonies of vocalist Shari Bolar in her debut performance with the band.

“... a wonderfully psychedelic sound, and much like the Flaming Lips’ best work more than a decade ago, it does everything it can to leave a smile on your face.” - Adrien Begrand, PopMatters
