EchoTest - (Set time: 11:00 PM)
EchoTest
Julie Slick (Adrian Belew Power Trio, Crimson ProjeKct) and Marco Machera are
proudly presenting a new EchoTest album, exploring new heights in this bassist
collaboration with their third release: "From Two Balconies." Displaying an even
higher production value, a new member (drummer Alessandro Inolti), many more
guests (Pat Mastelotto, Tim Motzer, Ali Wadsworth, Ian Gray, Greg Rosen, and
Sarah Anderson), the record is a departure from the heavily instrumental and
bass-dominated "Fourth Dementia" (2014) and "Le Fil Rouge" (2015). It features
lead vocals on 7 out of 10 tracks—Marco takes this role on a few songs, but he also
shares this job with Mike Visser (Imaginary Tricks) and Claire Wadsworth. The result
is a modern-sounding, yet classic record that defies genres, showcasing music
that is truly progressive in nature. Featuring artwork by the legendary Derek Riggs.
Deaf Scene - (Set time: 10:00 PM)
Deaf Scene
Deaf Scene is an experimental band based in Baltimore, Maryland. As an instrumental drum-bass-guitar trio, the band pulls off an incredibly vast range of sounds, pushing the sonic boundaries of each instrument and each sound that they use. In their five year existence, the band has cultivated a unique musical style, influenced by everything from The Beatles to Battles and beyond.
The Writhing Squares - (Set time: 9:00 PM)
The Writhing Squares
Writhing Squares is the inner-city Kosmische skronk perpetrated by Kevin Nickles (Ecstatic Vision, Taiwan Housing Project) and Daniel Provenzano (Purling Hiss, Spacin'). Hailing from the scenic sewers of South Phila, the duo’s short but sweet resume includes a much-heralded self-released seven-inch and a couple cassette outings, but In the Void Above is the longstanding promissory we’ve all been waiting for them to deliver.

Utilizing a formidably small gamut of sounds (reeds, voice, electronics, bass), the end result is like a collision of Blurt, Hawkwind (United Artists era) and Uli Trempte’s Spacebox, where the ensuing sonic boom is as vibrant as it is dense. Look for Writhing Squares to tour throughout 2016, maybe even comin’ to your house for supper, soon!
