Matt Cappy
If you're anywhere near East Philly you know the name Matt Cappy. If you've seen Jill Scott, The Roots, Dave Chappelle's Block Party, The Mavericks... you've probably seen Matt Cappy. If you've heard Michael Jackson's "Butterflies", Jill Scott's Gold selling live album "826+", John Legend and The Roots Grammy winning album "Wake Up" you've heard Matt Cappy. And that's just a few of the credits.

Matt Cappy, a Berlin, NJ native, or East Philly as he puts it, has been touring, recording, and performing with the biggest names in music from Neo-Soul, Hio Hop, RnB, Gospel, Latin, Rock and PoP since graduating from The University of The Arts in Philadelphia. By the Summer of 2010, Cappy was headlining festivals like Glastonbury, Isle of Wight, Bonaroo and Coachella with Jay-Z and guest appearing with The Dave Matthews Band.

Now the world gets to hear Matt's debut album: CHURCH AND STATE: (Ropeadope Records) is an epic beginning with a diverse range of experience and style that tell the story of the man.

"Cappy smartly avoids prejudice and transcends all boundaries in a joyful album full of funkyfied tunes, with intoxicating grooves and perfectly articulated trumpet solos that also display a flawless technique and a gorgeously clear tone..." - Arnaldo DeSouteiro
John Train (duo) - (Set time: 9:00 PM)
John Train (duo)
John Train was formed in the mid-1990s, when songwriter/guitarist Jon Houlon met dobro player Mike 'Slo-Mo' Brenner (Marah, Songs:Ohia/Magnolia Electric Co, Low Road, Slo-Mo), and the two began exploring bluegrass and Texas folk material and performing around the Philadelphia area. Fast forward almost 20 years and six CD releases later, John Train still chugs on, now a rootsy 6-piece that features Houlon, Brenner and Mark Tucker on guitar and steel guitar, Mark Schreiber on drums, Mike Frank on bass and Bill Fergusson on mandolin. John Train performs regularly in the Philadelphia area and frequently at Fergie’s Pub, where the band has held a semi-regular gig for almost a decade. The band's most recent CD, "A Wig and A Wonder," was released in 2013. John Train has opened for the likes of Dave Alvin, Junior Brown, Joe Ely, Mick Taylor, Jesse Winchester, John Wesley Harding, Butch Hancock and Robert Earl Keen.
